An almost-responsible gambler’s confessional.
So there was a time in my life – not long ago – where I decided I was going to get serious about my weekly casino visits. I thought, “Okay, Loops. It’s time. You’re going to be That Girl. The responsible one. The one who walks in with $70 and walks out with a crisp voucher and your self-respect.”
Naturally, instead of just doing that like a normal person, I bought a metal box.
Not just any box. No.
This thing was hyped up on YouTube by some very entertaining gambling influencers who swore by it.
It had a key, a slit for cash deposits, and just enough weight to be used as a swinging weapon in case I ever got into a fight at the keno machines.
Like, yes it could hold money – but could it also break a kneecap if necessary? Probably.
The concept:
You bring your cash. You play. You win.
And instead of going full goblin mode and feeding your entire jackpot back into the machine, you take a percentage – like, say you win $100 after putting in $20, you slide $40 into the box and keep playing with $60.
You still have fun, but you make sure something comes home with you.
It’s not about quitting while you’re ahead – it’s about protecting part of your win while still vibing.

The reality:
I took that box to the casino multiple times.
Never used it.
Not once.
***
What I did do was walk around the casino with it in my bag like some kind of financial bodyguard – a silent metal reminder that I could be disciplined if I wanted to.
Why did I really bring it?
Unclear.
Maybe it was for the aesthetic.
Maybe I liked how it made my purse feel slightly heavier, like I was carrying the weight of my potential.
Maybe I thought if the casino caught fire I could use it to smash a window and escape with a crisp $5 inside (hypothetically).
But no.
It sat in my bag like a prop in a low-budget documentary about someone thinking about budgeting.
***
Moral of the story?
I was never really using the box for saving.
I was using it for hope.
And now that I’ve processed that?
I’m ready to start actually putting cash inside it – even if it’s just $5.
Because maybe the box wasn’t a failure.
Maybe it was just waiting for me to stop lying to myself.
And now, I’m ready.
…probably.

👁👄👁Loops’ Strategy for others who also like Four Card $.05 Keno :
Loops’ 7 Number Strategy :
Quick pick 7 numbers on all four cards at 2 nickels per card if you can. Whenever you hit 5/7 on any card, change your numbers and quick pick them on all cards again because HOW RUDE.
Did I mention I get 7/7 a lot? Usually 7/7 wins you $700 and 6/7 wins you $40 at this bet.
Loops/ 5# Strategy :
Quick pick 5 numbers on all four cards at 2 nickels per card if you can. Whenever you hit 4/7 on any card, change the numbers and quick pick them all again because, HOW RUDE. Usually 5/5 wins you $80.
Okay, that’s it. Hope that makes you win as much as it makes me win.
