Okay so in the last few months I have been been hit constantly with the new trending short films. It started with Short Reels and now there’s all these platforms that do the same thing. Each “movie” is like 50+ episodes about one minute long and you usually have to pay if you want to watch a whole one.
Otherwise, you get like 5 free episodes a day and it gets annoying having to wait lol.
Anyway, the ones I’ve been obsessed with lately have this very attractive actor guy. He’s like super buff and in all the films he is like some rebel dude who (think She’s All That vibe) falls for a not so cool girl and is super sweet and caring (which let’s be real, is not realistic). I think the unrealistic vibes of this hot guy make it more entertaining because of course Disney traumatized us with the men solve all our issues vibe and let me be the exception.
Anywho, I kept seeing Lap by Lap ads and not going to lie, this actor guy is so attractive and endearing in these flix that I finally gave in and am not done watching it but have started watching it and I have some thoughts so far.

So it starts out with this couple, Brooke and Justin. He’s a “champ” swimmer about to make it big and she’s this prospering sports therapist who’s pregnant unbeknownst to him. This villain girl (these types of flix always have some witch bully) wants him to herself and is rich with daddy’s money and basically convinces Brooke to leave him if she cares for him bc with Villain Queen, he can get signed to be a big star and make it big in his career.
Brooke agrees lol and fast forward 8 years, he finally finds her and she’s been fired as a maid.
Anywho, lots going on but very entertaining.
I guess what I dislike so far is they try and make these films like very hopeful, like loser girl and this hot buff guy who’s obsessed with her and will do anything for her over anyone else and he’s so sweet and romantic. However, in between this persona they give him, at the same time they have him make these misogynistic comments and just annoying rude little comments that are disrespectful and just annoying.
Like for someone who is in love and respects this girl who he’s been looking for for 8 years, he randomly has hit her with comments like “I thought I was the only one who was going to get you wet” after the shower goes off in the locker room and sprays them.
Then he hires her in secret (he’s the CEO of the company that hires her who has him as a “client”, but it’s all BS) and is texting as her boss making her wait on him hand and foot when she was hired as a sports therapist. He makes her rub lotion on him and hits her with the “don’t act like you don’t love every inch of my body”.
Oh and there was the “Sorry, I distracted you with my abs”.
Which don’t get me wrong, he distracted me too but that’s not the point.

Like those little moments make me keep bringing the pedestal this guy is on lower and lower. Like dude STFU and just win her back without all the rudeness. Yikes.
Oh I almost forgot the “I know you regret leaving me, I see it in your eyes. If you were with me you wouldn’t have to clean toilets for a living”.

Now, don’t get any ideas. I will continue watching because a girl needs some entertainment and bro wasn’t wrong about his abs hehe. But I just wanted to vent about what I dislike about this current short movie so far.
